O For A Thousand Tongues

I’d wanted to arrange this hymn for a long time and I got an opportunity to write a few contemporary hymn arrangements for submission to a CD compliation. A different one went on the CD, but this is the one that my home church, and now a few other congregations have connected with. I’ve added a big chorus between the traditional verses, and went from 3/4 to 4/4 time.

This demo is my buddy Tim Nienhuis singing the lead and playing guitar, and I’m filling in everything else.

Lyrics:

O For A Thousand Tongues    Wesley/Glazer/Steckler O for a thousand tongues to sing, my great Redeemer’s praise The glories of my God and King, the triumphs of His grace. Jesus, the name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease  ‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears, ‘Tis life and health and peace He breaks the power of canceled sin, He sets the prisoner free His blood can make the foulest clean, His blood availed for me One thousand tongues will sing   Forever our praises ring One thousand tongues will sing   To my God and my King Hear Him ye deaf His praise ye dumb, Your loosened tongues employ Ye blind behold your Savior come, and leap ye lame for joy

My gracious Master and my God, Assist me to proclaim To spread through all the earth abroad, the honors of Thy name
