Art Heckman

Art Heckman is a song writer and worship leader with a desire to encourage people to persevere no matter what they are facing. He began leading worship roughly 13 years ago and is now serving in the local church (Clayton Community Church). He believes that music is a powerful tool that allows us to process our fears and struggles as well as express our gratitude and trust in God. His hope is that people can connect with the themes of his songs as they are simply prayers. This album has a raw and authentic feel with anthems of hope and faith.

I wrote this song at a time when I was feeling far from God. I was facing a lot of uncertainty and doubt and realized that He was there right beside me through it all. (Now here I am standing face to face) is a metaphor for the acknowledgement of His failfulness and that he never deserts us.

Song of the Month for October 2008

This song is simply a prayer declaring that no matter what happens I will still choose to worship and trust God. I wrote the song shortly after we had some significant losses in our church and this song is both a reminder to myself, a response to the questions of why and the struggle with not understanding. We may never fully understand our circumstances or why terrible things happen but God is greater and his love more powerful than the despair or hopelessness we sometimes feel.
